Lithopolis church's Trash and Treasure Sale, Carroll Neighborhood yard sales upcoming

Lithopolis United Methodist Church will hold its annual Trash and Treasure Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 and from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 6. Clothing, jewelry, home décor, and more will be available as well as household goods, toys, and books, will be for sale at the church, located at the corner of Market and North Street. Proceeds will benefit the Blessing Box ministry, with a goal of $5,000 raised.

The Multi Ministry Center (MMC) will be open for items being dropped off on the following days:

The ministry is unable to accept the following items: Upholstered furniture, mattresses, pianos/organs, children’s car seats, old-style TV’s (flat screens ok). Call the church office if you need to make arrangements for pickup of larger items at 614-837-2230.

This year’s event will be Friday, Aug. 5, and Saturday, Aug. 6.  The times are each day 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. rain or shine.

The Wagnalls Memorial in collaboration with the Wagnalls Community Theater is having a mystery dinner theater, Murder at the Mansion, Saturday, July 23 at 7 p.m. in the original, historic social hall.

That evening Lord Heathcliff was found dead, and it wasn’t an accident. Come to Heathcliff Manor and join the suspects of those who were closest to him and find out with Detective Basset’s help, who has done the unthinkable. Could it be the butler, the cook, the maid, or even the local fortune teller? Even the young, beautiful new wife of Lord Heathcliff isn’t off the hook. Will you, with clues and questions be able to discover the murderer?

Come test your skills of discernment and find out. Tickets are $50 each which includes dinner choice of beef tips, chicken cordon bleu, or vegetarian pasta. The City of Canal Winchester, in partnership with Destination: Canal Winchester, will host a family-friendly movie that will be shown outdoors at Hanners Park (458 Groveport Road) on Aug. 12.  The movie will begin after sunset, at about 9 p.m. The August film will be selected next month via a poll on the City’s Facebook page. Followers will be able to vote between two movie titles, with the winning title being played on Aug. 12.

Families can enjoy the movie from the comfort of their vehicle, or bring a chair or blanket to watch from the lawn. Free snacks and activities will be available at 8:00 PM prior to the films starting.
