A Fallout 4 player gets caught off guard by a Legendary Sentry Bot but is even more surprised by their companion NPC's reaction to an explosion.

Since Fallout 4 was released by Bethesda Softworks back in 2015, fans have continued to experience strange events and have come across things that normally don't happen during playthroughs. For example, one Fallout 4 player recently captured the moment their companion NPC was flung a great distance by an explosion.

Reddit user Moominesque posted a video of their adventure across the Boston commonwealth of Fallout 4 in which they happen upon an intimidating Legendary Sentry Bot. Sentry Bots are normally quite powerful foes in Fallout 4, but the Legendary status makes this enemy significantly more dangerous to the Vault 111 survivor. Unafraid of the Legendary robot, Moominesque is able to defeat it with impressive tactics and a useful arsenal, but their companion doesn't survive the encounter.

Moominesque's clip shows the Fallout 4 player sneaking near the entrance of a small building that leads to the powerful Legendary Sentry Bot to place a mine near the door. Taking several steps backward with their Sledgehammer in hand, Moominesque activates VATS and swaps to a pistol as the Sentry Bot opens the doors and starts firing at the player. Shooting at the Legendary Sentry Bot with a pistol after targeting its exposed leg in VATS, the Fallout 4 player disregards the mine they left near the entrance as they expect the robot to trigger it.

Just as the Sentry Bot moves towards the mine that Moominesque had placed, the Fallout 4 companion Cait approaches the robot from off-screen and the strategy works against her. Cait throws a grenade as the mine explodes in a large blaze and although the onslaught is enough to destroy the Legendary Sentry Bot, Cait is sent flying through the air from the blast. Moominesque stated that Cait was never seen again after this explosion, which suggests that the NPC was thrown much further than the player had expected.

Characters in Bethesda Softworks titles are known for ragdolling when they die, and that's no different with Fallout 4, which may be what led to Cait soaring through the sky. Although Moominesque has confirmed that the NPC is gone after this video was captured, it's currently unclear how much area around the blast the player explored before giving up. Because Fallout 76 is Bethesda's most recent Fallout title, and it continues to expand through its roadmap, whatever bug that may have caused Cait to fly may be replicable by other players before it's patched out.

Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
