Team SD Worx Launches Cycling Apparel Collection Designed by Amy Pieters During Tour de France Femmes Team SD Worx will ride the first stage of the Tour de France Femmes in Paris in a special shirt designed by Amy Pieters last year. In this way, the team shows that the cyclist, who is going through a long rehabilitation process due to a severe training accident, still is part of the team.

“Before her accident Amy was already designing her own cycling apparel collection. It is an honor for us as a team to present these clothes during the first stage of the Tour de France Femmes in Paris. We are very grateful to the international cycling union UCI, the various national federations and Tour organizer ASO for making this possible,” says Team SD Worx sports manager Danny Stam.

Amy Pieters had a serious fall during a training camp near Calpe in Spain at the end of December. After a life-saving emergency operation, the now 31 year old cyclist was in a coma for almost three months. Since then, she has been working on her rehabilitation in Dordrecht where she is making progress. In the weekends she can now go home again.

During the Dutch national championships road cycling, where Pieters won the Dutch title in 2021, a crowdfunding campaign was set up for Amy so she can receive the best possible treatment.

Long before her accident, Pieters had started designing cycling jerseys herself. She wanted to start her own cycling apparel collection. Within her team and in her environment people had already known about these plans for a while. The A❤️Y logo, which has been used and pasted by several times in recent months, is the logo for this clothing line conceived by Amy.

Her Team SD Worx seizes the opportunity at the first Tour de France Femmes to put Amy Pieters’ cycling apparel collection in the spotlight. The riders of the Team SD Worx Tour squad will proudly wear her design in the first stage in Paris, so that the general public can see Amy’s first ideas and designs of cycling clothing.

In Specialized, Pieters has found the right partner to bring out the first designs of this cycling apparel collection. As a cyclist, Amy rode many years with Specialized clothing and knows that this quality is what she was looking for in her own cycling line. Together with Lisan, a designer at Specialized, she looked at how to further develop this collection.

Lisan Dierkx: “In the summer of 2021 we started with the first design for Amy’s dream, her own cycling apparel collection. Amy’s vision was very strong from the beginning; to create a collection of high quality cycling apparel that stands out by using a nice balance of colors with just one element that stands out. This can be in color, but also in the design element that something attracts just a little more attention.”

“With inspiration from her America holidaytrip last fall, the collection was quickly established by Amy, she had clear ideas and she trusted us. The designs had to radiate something ‘nowadays’ with a twist. It was clear to me which colors Amy liked and what colors Amy didn’t like. It is very nice to work with someone who has such a clear idea and at the same time has so much confidence in us as designers. We chose colors that are not often found in women’s cycling collections. Amy also looked at trendy elements in everyday clothing that could be used in her cycling apparel collection. This is how the very first design came about; the Ocean collection.”

Bernese Cycling Companies suplest and Ileve District Launch Joint Cycling Glasses Engineered, Designed and Manufactured in Switzerland

Bernese cycling shoe manufacturer suplest and Bernese sports eyewear manufacturer ILEVE DISTRICT are launching joint cycling glasses. The glasses were co-designed by suplest and are based on ILEVE DISTRICT’s patented click-in technology. The design is reduced as usual and complements ILEVE DISTRICT’s eyewear collection with the new model N°3. The frame is 3D-printed and manufactured entirely in Switzerland. The cycling glasses are available in a limited edition and can be purchased in the webshops of the two companies.

Brand collaborations in the bicycle industry are booming. Now there is a new team in the Bernese cycling horizon: suplest from Burgdorf and the start-up ILEVE DISTRICT from Stettlen are launching the N°3 cycling glasses together. The two companies are separated by just 20 km. Both are setting new standards in terms of function and quality. And both attach great importance to an independent design language. “We ventured into new territory. The exciting thing was to create an eyewear design that fits suplest,” says Robert Gehrig, owner and Head of Development & Design at suplest. “Form follows function,” adds Simon Krähenbühl, owner and Head of Design & Development at ILEVE DISTRICT, “We focus on the essentials. Our eyewear convinces with function and comfort.”

Cycling glasses frame N°3: 3D-printed in Switzerland

Glasses case: handmade in Switzerland from cardboard

Engineered and 3D Printed in Switzerland The glasses are based on the screwless click-in hinge from ILEVE DISTRICT. The patented connection between the front and temples ensures a reliable grip. Countless facial data were analysed for the nose section. The result: the nose pad is completely integrated into the frame – there is no need for nose pads made of short-lived silicone. The glasses have a modular design. This means that spare parts can be easily replaced and the material can be recycled professionally. The glasses are 3D printed. Thanks to the innovative technology, the frames can be manufactured 100% in Switzerland. In addition to local production, 3D printing has other advantages, because the material is particularly well suited to the high demands of sports: at only 28 grams, the glasses are among the lightest sports glasses, the tough elastic material makes the glasses robust and durable, and the temples can be individually adjusted to the shape of the head.

Limited to 99 Pieces The frame N°3 is available in a limited edition of 99 pieces. The cycling glasses are available exclusively online in the suplest and ILEVE DISTRICT webshops at a price of CHF/EURO 287.

The glasses are equipped with a grey category 3 lens that enhances contrast and offers 100% UV protection. The lens is robust and durable and is easy to clean thanks to its water-and dirt-repellent coating. On the left side the emblem of suplest and the heraldic animal of Bern – a bear – is 3D-printed into the temple. The cycling glasses are supplied with a glasses bag and a Swiss made glasses case.

SRAM eTap AXS x Ribble Gravel Ti

Ribble Cycles creates a one-off titanium gravel bike to maximise the benefits of SRAM’s eTap AXS wireless shifting and RockShox Rudy XPLR suspension fork.

The handcrafted titanium frame is created for wireless shifting, which, combined with Ribble’s latest integrated carbon Level 5 Gravel bar with fully internal brake hose routing, it offers the cleanest possible look.

Ribble’s long and low gravel geometry has also been optimised for the RockShox Rudy XPLR fork, to further enhance the sublime handling and ride quality that titanium is best known for.

To top off the package the frame has been given a striking Ribble Custom Colour paint finish with a dynamic design that sweeps across the frame and RockShox Rudy Ultimate fork, yet still encapsulates the timeless nature of raw titanium.

“Our R&D team has worked in conjunction with SRAM to create this unique gravel frame. We’re always developing and looking at ways to further enhance the performance of our bikes through R&D embracing the latest technology – the AXS wireless system allowed us to go beyond existing bike frame design constraints, creating a prototype for our ‘cleanest’ gravel optimised Titanium frame to date. This prototype is a beautiful combination of refined design, wireless gearing and suspension technology to create a fantastic off-road machine capable of extreme gravel adventures and racing.” Says Jamie Burrow, Head of Product, Ribble Cycles.

“I think it’s exciting to see a frame designer and manufacturer fully embrace and optimise around our SRAM eTap AXS wireless shifting and RockShox Gravel specific technology. Personally having unused holes and/or cable entry ports in frames that are blanked off with plastic covers or bungs has always been a slight bugbear of mine, so creating a high performance frame devoid of these is great, and delivers a super-clean look.” Adds Stu Bowers, SRAM Partnership Marketing Specialist, Northern Europe.
