On Tuesday Feb. 8, a fire destroyed a mobile home and came close to neighboring homes in the 400 block of Maple Street in Jourdanton.

Jourdanton officers and firefighters arrived at the scene and spotted a male feeling the fire. Later in the day, JPD officers identified and tracked down the male who was identified as Spencer Palacios of Jourdanton.

Officers interviewed Palacios who returned to the scene of the fire and showed officers where he started the blaze, which was consistent with physical evidence. Yesterday, Jourdanton police obtained an arrest warrant for Spencer Palacios for allegedly committing arson. Palacios is now in the custody of Atascosa County Jail. Thanks goes out to Sergeant Pierce Ruple for his work in quickly investigating the case.
